Want to see Hawaii and don't know which island to start from? Come to San Diego, and after the pandemic is over, you can book a Holland America cruise and spend about a day at each of them.

If you plan to go to Hawaii now, in 2021, we would suggest to start from Maui. You would fly to Kahului airport that is located on the cooler, North side, of the island and rent a car or take a bus to your destination hotel or condo. You would want to stay in West Maui, Kaanapali beach, Lahaina area, or in South Maui Kihei, Wailea. West Maui tends to be more expensive.

You arrived, what to do next. Go to the nearby beach. Use sunscreen even after 4pm, otherwise you will get burned and be limited to no beach activities for the next few days. Visit activity booth and pick an activity you are interested in from snorkeling to bicycling down the dormant volcano Haleakala. Tour organisers provide the needed equipment.

If you like the rough looking volcano landscape you can fly to Island of Hawaii also called Big Island. The airport is built in the lava field. This island has an active volcano Kilauea. It erupts occasionally and when it does you can see the red lava flowing to the ocean enlarging the size of the island.

And there is an island of Kauai that you fly to to see green valleys and enjoy the calm of the island. Some movies were filmed there.
